I attended WordCamp Europe 2022 in Porto. The event was well-organized, with a great venue that provided a welcoming and collaborative atmosphere.

As part of the Jetpack Crew team, we organized our own meetup, which was an excellent opportunity to connect with newmatticians that hadn’t had the chance to travel during the pandemic.

Throughout the event, I had the opportunity to attend various talks and workshops, which provided valuable insights and new perspectives. It was a great opportunity to learn new skills, stay up-to-date with industry trends, and deepen my knowledge of WordPress.

WordCamp Europe is an annual event that brings together the WordPress community from around the world. It’s a time to connect with others, learn new skills, and build community. In this post, I will share a typical experience of attending a WordCamp Europe event, including Contributor Day.

Day 1: Contributor Day

Contributor Day is a full day dedicated to contributing to the WordPress project. Attendees work in small groups on various tasks, such as bug fixes, translations, documentation, and testing. It’s an opportunity to give back to the community, learn new skills, and work alongside experienced contributors.

Day 2: Workshops and Sessions

The second day os filled with workshops and sessions that cover a wide range of topics, from design and development to marketing and business. Attendees can choose which sessions to attend based on their interests and skill levels. It’s an opportunity to learn from industry experts and gain new insights into WordPress.

Day 3: More Sessions and Social Events

The third day continues with more sessions and workshops, providing attendees with even more opportunities to learn and connect with others. In the evening, social events are organized, such as parties and networking events, which are a chance to unwind and socialize with other attendees. This is usually the last day of the event, the closing day. It typically features a keynote speech from a prominent figure in the WordPress community, as well as a recap of the event and awards for notable contributors. It’s a time to reflect on everything learned and the connections made over the course of the event.
